What a joy, what a joy, what a joy it is to conduct the Lynchburg Pops Community Band! Last night was another outstanding rehearsal in that it surpassed my expectations. Your commitment to maximizing our time together is appreciated. A special shoutout to all the soloists last night who played superbly.

Going forward –

Next Thursday – run-through of Symphonic Dance no. 3 without stopping. It will not be error-free at this point, but to run-through a work of this magnitude in our third rehearsal of it would be a major step toward our ultimate performance.

Focus on Carmen Suite for next rehearsal, especially the last movement.

Run-through of Carnival of Venice and Someone to Watch Over me. We must be prepared when Chuck Seipp visits us for rehearsal. At some point I’d like to send him a recording of us playing it for his feedback.

Run-through of Fairest of the Fair. (A more detailed rehearsal schedule will follow.)

PLEASE let me and Steve know when you will not be at rehearsal. Attendance overall is superb but I often adjust rehearsal plans if key players or too many players from a section will be missing.

Have I expressed what a joy it is to work with you?

Jim
