Thank you for your continued devotion to the Lynchburg Pops Community Band! We got a lot done last night and refined our upcoming performance.

Please remember to let me know when you will be absent. It helps me to plan for an efficient rehearsal.

This coming Thursday June 2 our guest soloists will be with us, Chuck Seipp and Rachel Love, so a significant portion of the rehearsal will be devoted to them. It will not leave a whole lot of time for the other music.

THURSDAY’S REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Balance chords(3 min)

Carnival of Venice with Chuck Seipp (25)

Someone to Watch Over Me with Chuck and Larry (20)

Trumpeter’s Lullaby (10)

United States Armed Forces Salute (5)

You Raise Me Up (10)

Carmen Suite (remainder)

In preparation for our final 2 rehearsals I offer these important comments/suggestions for your consideration. As you consider each one please workout whatever you need to do to bring it up to speed.

Lynchburg Pops Fanfare/SSB are okay (meaning they need to be run through but are basically ready to go.)

Fanfare for the Common Man needs about 2 more run throughs for security

Fairest of the Fair – Pretty solid. Let’s nail down the dynamics on our run throughs.

If I Could Fly – very solid. Of course this is an easy piece for you. Let’s strive to make ALL our selections sound easy for us.

Symphonic Dance no. 3 – Obviously our most challenging piece. Let’s remember the details as we begin run throughs. Be confident on the transitions!

Carmen Suite – You’re handling this one very well. Run throughs will secure it.

Irish Tune from County Derry – Focus on phrasing and restraint until the big moment!

You Raise Me Up – Easy one for us but let’s not take that for granted.

Lightning Fingers – is in good shape. The key is tempos.

The Carnival of Venice – You’re playing it well. This Thursday’s rehearsal with Chuck is crucial for establishing HIS tempos. Clarinets expect some minor edits simply because we just don’t have enough clarinetists yet. I’m going to watch Chuck’s video many times!

Someone to Watch Over Me – Pretty good shape. I’m going to watch Chuck’s video many times!

Trumpeter’s Lullaby – ready to go!

United States Armed Forces Salute – We’ll review it this Thursday.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing – I have chosen not to program it at this time, but we will perform it eventually.
