WE WILL BE BACK AT E.C. GLASS H.S THIS THURSDAY.

Dear friends,

Thank you for your continued commitment to the band and for your preparation for each rehearsal. If we approach this coming rehearsal efficiently and achieve our goals as outlined, that will give us our two June rehearsals to do run-throughs and some final cleaning. We should be in great shape!

Itinerary:

  • Balance Chords (2min)
  • Irish Tune from County Derry Run-through with focus on dynamics and shaping the phrases(expression). Don’t play notes-play music! (5min)
  • Fairest of the Fair Run-through for dynamics and note accuracy. (5)
  • Lynchburg Pops Fanfare/Star-Spangled Banner – (Review for some-first time for others.) (5)
  • Carnival of Venice – run-through for tempos. (10)
  • Carmen Suite Mvt. 4 only-rehearse in detail. Flutes/Clarinets/Altos please prepare to get this mvt. Under your fingers. (10)
  • You Raise Me Up – 2 run-throughs for familiarization. (10)
  • Trumpeter’s Lullaby – for familiarization. (10)
  • Someone to Watch Over Me – detailed rehearsal. (15)
  • Symphonic Dance no. 3 – “Beginning” at Letter F (meas71) Back-to-Front. Review what we did not cover last week. Then, hopefully a run-through. (30) Flutes at F, then clarinets and 1st F Horns at G, nail down these accidentals and grace notes. The grace notes should be "dainty" like little "Bird Chirps."

If you have joined the band in the last "month" please create a name tag for your stand showing your first name. (An 8×11 sheet of paper folded in half with your first name hanging over the stand so I can read it.) Thanks!

Wednesday start looking for the new signs along the streets announcing the June 16 concert!
