Dear friends,

After the Christmas Concert I am so pumped for 2024 and the Sousa Concert. We continue to get better and better. For the new year we are going to develop our dynamic range and beauty of sound at all dynamic levels. To that end I have ordered an Eric Whitacre piece Lux Aurumque "Light and Gold." This exquisite work will require sensitivity, air control, and listening for intonation. Music of the Spheres will also help to develop dynamics. (Whitacre conceived this as a Christmas piece-Angels singing quietly to the newborn babe.) If it arrives by Thursday we may read it in hardcopy Thursday night. I also hope to have a special announcement pertaining to a cool opportunity for us but I have to wait for board approval.
