Dear friends,
Thursday’s rehearsal is "on" but we can expect some distractions. The EC Glass band is having their Family Night Preview for their marching show which will be outdoors, but that also means students may be entering the room to put away their instruments. Let’s remember that we are their guests as this is their band room. Let’s be patient with the distractions and can keep working. It won’t be ideal but will be better than not rehearsing at all.
Here’s the plan:
Come Thou Fount for developing BIG SOUND and LONG PHRASES.
The Christmas Song The missing parts for Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, and Bass Clarinet are being posted today! Let me know what other parts are missing.
Stars and Stripes for detail. This means slower tempos. Flutes focus on the Piccolo solo
Light Cavalry Overture for detail. Slower tempos for ginger control.
Duke Ellington for Swing-Style, baby!
Strategic Air Command March for finger control.
I’m delighted with how quickly you are grasping the music. Steve, Todd, and I are meeting tomorrow at the Community Market to make plans for a ASeptember or maybe early October performance. We will be doing music of a more tutti nature or pieces with the FULL BAND playing. For this coming concert, count on playing. Most of these are tunes were played on our first concert. We will post up these pieces soon for those of you who have joined since then.
